Yetish Nanjundappa Yetish studied at the International Center of Photography in New York City. Upon completing his study, he worked as the house photographer for ICP, and later as the house printer for Magnum Photos. He worked as both photographer and color printer for Hoffman La Roche, and in 1988 he opened his own studio and photo lab in New York.

Yetish has photographed on assignments for Asahi Shimbun, Sun magazine and various artists. He made black and white prints for photographers at Magnum Photos, Black Star, and well known photographers including Alfred Wertheimer and Bruce Gilden. His prints are in collections at MOMA and reproductions in well circulated published books including Elvis at 21 ; In the Warsaw Ghetto: Summer 1941 ; numerous books by Bruce Gilden: Haiti ; After the Off ; 1990s Japan ; Facing New York etc. He has made black and white prints for Elvis 56 – TV Movie Documentary.


Yetish lives and works in Manhattan, New York City. He has specialized in black and white photography and traditional silver printing since 1984, and since 2018 has been focusing on photographing primarily with digital media. His photographic work indicates an appreciation for his subjects. Yetish says “I enjoy the attraction to the drama of light and darkness, and forms that resonate”
